
On three East Tennessee lakes, TVA open their campgrounds on March 15 …
Melton Hill Lake, Douglas Lake and Cherokee Lake campgrounds are open for the summer season.
Douglas Dam Campgrounds are unique since there are two different areas; one on the lake above the dam and one below the dam on the French Broad River. The campground above the dam incorporates a rather large boat launch and parking area. Both campgrounds are a short distance from Interstate 40 – exits 407 and 412.

Cherokee Lake Campground is located off Highway 92 in Jefferson City. Highway 92 can be accessed from I-40 exit 417. The large campground is adjacent to the huge public boat launching ramp at Cherokee Dam Recreational area. The campground includes many improvements including a new bathhouse.

Melton Hill Lake Campground is just off I-40 on Highway 321 North [exit 364] between Knoxville and Kingston. Melton Hill Lake is a clean, cold lake along the Southwest side of Oak Ridge. The Melton Hill Dam sustainable area also features solar collectors, windmill and electric vehicle charging stations. The campground facilities include RV parking, swim beach, picnic areas, pavilions, bath house, boat launching, tent and camper sites.
